Grafting & Propagation Workshop
August 19, 2017 @ 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Get ready to delve into constructing new plant life. In this workshop we’ll discuss the principles of grafting and guide you as you graft your own cacti. You will also learn how to propagate cuttings from succulents and tropical plants.
We’ll discuss why growers and farmers initially introduced grafting and explore what makes the characteristics of a root stock and a scion. You’ll choose from a selection of cacti to work with, and will be supplied with your own grafting knife to use during the workshop. If you are not comfortable handling a sharp knife we’re also happy to do the cutting for you.
After grafting is complete we’ll talk about propagation techniques. You’ll take your own cuttings from tropical and succulent plants to bring home and grow into thriving plants.
You’ll leave with your brand new Frankenstein cactus, a selection of plant cuttings from our greenhouse, plus a few extra gifts from the Tula team.
*please consider that once the graft union is healed, cacti require bright sunlit conditions to thrive
