The Cromo Collection is individually handmade from stoneware and wood fired. In collaboration with potter Jordan Colon thrown at his studio in Kent, Connecticut. Perch is a traditional form, the mouth is approximately the same dimension as the base. The color variation and iridescence are created by the ash and flames with no glaze. The two color variations are a deep eggplant and a sandstone.

Wood firing is the most ancient technique of firing ceramics. The Cromo Collection was fired within a 35 foot long, hand-built wood fired kiln in Kent Connecticut.

The fire burns for three days and reaches a maximum heat of 2400 degrees F. Jordan and his team divide the three days into shifts as the fire burns for 36 hours. After three days, the kiln is left to cool for two days, where we can then enter and unload. Pictured below is the kiln mid-fire as well as a sample of the various styles and colors in the collection.

Every planter has a drainage hole and will be paired with a matching plate with purchase. The bottom of each planter is stamped with a small Tula icon as well the Jordan’s maker mark.
