Euphorbia pseudocactus is known for its patterned surface, small thorns and branching growth habit. The pseudocactus grows up to 4ft tall and with maturity it develops a thick stalk and larger thorns.
Euphorbia pseudocactus is native to South Africa.
E. pseudocactus prefer direct sun with partial shade during the harshest afternoon hours. If possible give them a spot in a sill with southern or western exposure. A sheer curtain during peak hours could protect the plant from sunburn.
In the summer months water when the soil has dried out completely. In younger plants be sure to water thoroughly when the soil is dry as the roots are establishing and need the moisture. Euphorbia are built to withstand drought, and overwatering is one of the quickest ways to kill by root rot. Water less in the winter months and only when there is a stretch of sunshine in the forecast.
The E. pseudocactus is easy to propagate by stem cuttings. Euphorbia have a toxic sap so always wear gloves when handling and propagating. Fertilize: Apply a water-soluble, balanced fertilizer monthly, diluted at half strength once per month during the grow season.
Approx. 4-6" tall and 2-4" at the widest point. Every plant will vary in size, color and shape.
