The Entheogen Collection by Miami based botanical artist Donna Torres. These individually signed botanical illustrations depict, in incredible detail, the psychoactive plants used for the purposes of engendering spiritual development in sacred contexts.
This is the Areca catechu, a species of palm which grows in much of the tropical Pacific, Asia, and parts of east Africa. 1st century AD, Sanskrit medical writings claimed that betel nut possessed 13 qualities found in the region of heaven. The seed contains alkaloids such as arecaidine and arecoline, which, when chewed, are intoxicating and relieves hunger, abdominal discomfort and weariness.
