Calathea 'beauty star'

The Calathea 'beauty star' looks as though its leaves have been carefully painted with stripes of pink, green and white. A variety of the Calathea Ornata, the 'beauty star' is a hybrid with long and thin shaped leaves.

The Calathea is native to Brazil.

Calathea prefer bright, indirect light or dappled sun. Too much direct sunlight will burn the leaves, but low-light conditions could lead to unhealthy leaf growth. An ideal spot is a few feet back from a window that receives a few hours of direct sun.

Water your Calathea when the top of the soil starts to feel dry. Do not let the soil dry out. Calathea prefer high humidity so misting or adding a humidifier to the area where the calathea is grown will keep the leaves healthy.

Tula's Tip

Find the right balance of sun and moisture and the calathea will love you. Air that is too dry will turn the tips brown. The Calathea also hates cold air so protect it from drafty windows. This is a humidity loving plant, give it humidity and dappled sun and it will love you. Fertilize: In Spring and summer, fertilize once a month with an organic houseplant fertilizer.

4" wide Nursery pot and about 6" tall. Every plant will vary in size, color and shape.
