Senecio scaposus
Senecio scaposus is a small, stemless succulent beloved by collectors for its silver-white coloration brought on by a soft, felt-like covering. Evolved to reflect the intense sun of its native South Africa, this small senecio will produce star-shaped flowers of the same color as the leaves, at the end of a long, central stalk.
Please note: Every plant will vary in size, color and shape from the one pictured. Planter is not included. Plant ships bare root. Native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
Senecio scaposus loves plenty of direct sunlight. Provide southern exposure as much as possible. However, when itās hot, these plants prefer partial shade at peak hours. The diffused light of a screen door or sheer curtain will be perfect.
Water once the soil dries out completely. Make sure to drench the soil thoroughly until water is dripping from the bottom of the plant. Overwatering could lead to leaf drop or root rot. Always err on the side of underwatering.
Senecio scaposus grows and blooms best when somewhat rootbound. Repot every two or three years, moving it to a pot just 2 inches wider. Fertilize: Senecio scaposus does not require fertilizer, though it can be added to give container grown plants a boost or to supplement poor soil.
Approx. 4ā wide and 3-4ā tall. Every plant will vary in size, color and shape.
