The Myrtillocactus geometrizans crested is a highly sought after and rare form of the Myrtillocactus geometrizans. The crested formation occurs naturally in a clumping manner that can take years to build in height. The cactus is more or less spineless, its blue coloration will become more saturated with the proper sunlight.
Please note: Every plant will vary in size, color and shape from the one pictured. Plant ships bare root. Soil included according to plant size.Native to Central and Northern Mexico, the Crested Myrtillocactus geometrizans prefers dry, hot conditions with plenty of direct sun to grow.
The Myrtillocactus requires direct sun to grow evenly but be careful of very hot windowsills during summer months as the magnification from the glass can burn the plant surface. Because this specie has little to no spines, it is more susceptible to sunburn.
Allow the soil to dry completely between watering and water thoroughly in the grow season.
If new growth appears and it is not crested, remove the pups to grow elsewhere so the crested formation is left uninterrupted. Avoid touching the plant's tissue with your bare hands as you may leave behind an oily fingerprint. Fertilize: Myrtillocacti can be fed with a cactus fertilizer once per month, spring through fall.
