Cityview
Cityview Racquet Club is a longtime Queens staple, known for its rooftop courts enclosed in a massive year-round air-supported bubble. It’s a unique, high-energy space. Constant movement, sound, and rhythm.
Tula House came in to soften that edge.
We kept things simple and intentional. Sculptural plants like Ficus, Dracaena, and Schefflera are chosen for their strength, durability, and clean forms. Instead of filling the space, we let each plant stand on its own. The terracotta vessels do a lot of the heavy lifting. Their size, texture, and warmth bring a grounded, almost courtyard feel, playing off the clay tones already in the floors and walls.
Plant groupings were placed as moments along the path, guiding movement, breaking things up, and giving the eye a place to land. Around the courts, they help take the edge off all the glass, steel, and motion.
Overall, it’s a subtle shift, but an important one. A bit of calm, warmth, and life layered into a space built for energy.
